Start with what matters to you
A first visit should begin with your goals, symptoms, comfort, previous experiences, and questions. It is reasonable to ask the team to explain each stage before it happens.
- List current concerns and when they began.
- Bring an up-to-date medication list when the real clinic requests it.
- Mention anxiety, access needs, communication preferences, or a need for breaks.
Know what an assessment may include
A dentist may examine the teeth, gums, mouth, bite, and relevant symptoms. Imaging is considered from clinical need rather than used automatically for everyone.
The outcome may be prevention advice, monitoring, more investigation, treatment options, or a staged plan. Ask what is urgent, what can wait, and what alternatives exist.
Leave with a useful plan
Before agreeing to treatment, ask for the goal, steps, expected appointments, alternatives, important risks, maintenance, planning range, and what could change the estimate.
